Character Origins[]

Jean Grey was the younger daughter of Professor John Grey of the History Department of Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, and his wife Elaine. When Jean was 10 years old, she was playing with her best friend, Annie Richardson, when Annie was hit by an automobile. The emotion that Jean felt as she held her dying friend awakened her own latent telepathic powers, and she experienced Annie's own emotions as she died. This traumatic event left Jean in a withdrawn and deeply depressed state. Moreover, Jean discovered that she couldn't control her newly awakened telepathic abilites, and had to isolate herself from other people to keep hold of her sanity.

Finally, when Jean was 11, a psychiatrist recommended to her parents that they consult a colleague of his, Professor Charles Xavier (Professor X), who was secretly a mutant with telepathic powers. Xavier realized that Jean's young mind couldn't yet cope with her abilities, so he telepathically blocked her access to them, allowing her powers to evolve at a more natural pace. Jean developed her telekinetic powers at the age of 10. As a teenager, Jean left her parents to attend Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and, using the codename "Marvel Girl", became the first female X-Man, joining the team on its first mission against Magneto.

On one fateful mission, Jean used her abilities to pilot a space shuttle back to Earth. Her telekinetic shields gave way under the onslaught of the intense radiation. The strain of holding the solar radiation at bay with her powers destroyed the psychic shields Xavier placed in her mind as a child, and Jean assumed her ultimate potential as a psychic, becoming an entity of pure thought. The shuttle crashed into a bay, and Jean telekinetically reformed her body and emerged from the water. Taking the code name of Phoenix, Jean's psi-powers are now vastly stronger, and she manifests a fiery bird-shaped energy aura whenever she uses her powers to their fullest extent.

Background[]

A New Roommate?[]

"Hi, I'm Jean. It's really nice to meet you. You guys have a great place here."

As Max and Doom are having their arguments about Wesker's disappearance, Jean passes over them, greeting them in the process. When Max attempts to continue their discussion, he wondered who came to the fridge. Doom told Max that he got them a new roommate to fill in for Wesker, adding that she is also good with pets. Jean teleports in front of them, introducing herself to Max, which rings a bell to him (even going as far as remembering Yipes' CEO 2011 reaction over Phoenix.). Snapping himself back to reality, Max gets scared at the sight of the saltiest character of MvC3, getting Doom surprised that it has never happened before. As Doom goes to check over Max, he grabs Doom, explains that she destroyed MvC3, and reminds him of his many defeats at the hands of Phoenix.

Doom handles the situation..... roughly, as initially, he would tour her around his (Doom's) Room, but then he adds that she is a "Fire-Breathing, Galaxy-Destroying, Level 5 B*tch from hell.", and tells her to leave the house. But then, Jean, who wants a second chance, told them that she is controlling her powers well, suppressing her dark side as well. Doom agrees, but Max tries to object, due to the zombie apocalypse that happened two weeks ago. Jean, being an "Assist Me!" fan, wants help from Max to get her back in the game. As Max explained her mobility and her general moveset, Doom tries to upset Jean with an X-Men Movie clip, which fails with Jean telling that the movie sucked in her opinion. Max counters Doom with a clip of the Fantastic Four Movie, depicting Doom as a human statue. Doom countered Max with clips of his "Humiliating Moments" in Con Air, Wicker Man, Ghost Rider and Vampire's Kiss. With Max out of ideas, Doom declares "Checkmate", and Max continuing on with Phoenix's Special Moves.

As he continued on with the tutorial, Doom wonders why Max never puts Phoenix in his team, with Max telling him that she was too good in MvC3, adding that it's considered "Cheap" to other players. Max adds that Doom is just jealous because one of the Top tier was Phoenix. Doom chastises that he is the "Best of the best", with Phoenix asking his credentials, sparking a debate, with Phoenix gaining the upper hand, telling "she won EVO 2011."

By the time Max finished up her assists, Jean feels her powers coming back. Max tries to calm Jean down, failing because Jean thinks she is the "Most hated character of the game", with Doom teases her to "unleash Dark Phoenix" and not worrying because of the nerfs she received in UMvC3. With Jean losing control of her powers, Dark Phoenix is born, unleashing fire over the house. Max, in panic, asks Doom to teleport them some place safe, but Doom can't due to his power not working under pressure.

Dark Phoenix rises(?)[]

"Ask not for pity from Dark Phoenix."

As the apartment still in flames, Doom wants pity from Dark Phoenix, but she denies pity from him and starts choking Doom. Doom desperately starts to name out Professor X, Wolverine and Cyclops to calm her dark powers, and succeeds as Jean falls down unconscious, her dark side suppressed. With the apartment still on fire, Max and Doom scramble to put it out; Max putting out the Living Room fire while Doom uses Photon Array(or "The Finger Lasers."). After the fire was put out by Doom's Finger Snap, Jean blames herself because of her powers. Max forgives Jean and continues on with her hyper moves.

When Max is done with her Hyper moves, Doom makes fun of Jean's psychic abilities, which doesn't hurt even a bit. With that, Max dares her to read his innermost desires. With Max done, and getting it right, Doom wishes her luck, as he is "a closed book". Jean teases Doom with herself and X-23 naked, and silence ensues. Andrew announces "Cut!" as the crew prepares for Doom's innermost desire, but Max cuts that one out. Silence enters again as Ben(?) asks Andrew if "he should stick him?". Andrew, in disappointment, removes his glasses and sits down on the couch with the cast (Mike Young pops out behind the couch, in disbelief that the scene was cut.). Doom excitedly sees "Larry", but gets a Shut Up notice by Andrew. He continues on that despite some problems, he is disappointed that the "Naked" scene gets cut, but Max adds that he can't add it on his YouTube account, reasons self-explanatory. Andrew still moves on to film the show, despite the disappointment, and Max continues on with her combos.

With her Tutorial done, and last laughs together, Max asks Jean on Wesker's whereabouts, but Jean needs something Wesker used in the past (which was his apron in Assist Me! Chris.). While Jean scans for Wesker's current location, she announces that it WASN'T Wesker's doing in the zombie apocalypse, clearing out his name. Jean then adds that the T-virus was unleashed by Taskmaster, which Max thinks it's impossible because Taskmaster is just a mercenary and Doom adds it's M.O.D.O.K's doing. When Jean tries to scan further who is responsible, she hears voices and, in disbelief, looks to Doom. Jean faints and disappears.
